Water Governance

We seek to raise awareness on water issues at local, national and international levels. Umande Trust supports the establishment of robust and democratic water and sanitation services associations (WASSAs). Amongst others, the role of the WASSAs is to design, plan, construct, conserve and secure improved water and sanitation services.

• To promote inclusion, equity, transperancy and effective service delivery

• Empower target groups to lobby for improved access and control of related water and sanitation services and resources

Establish water and sanitation service associations to promote community management and enhanced access to water and sanitation services.

Capacity building focused on womrn and youth

Sensitize communities on issues such as tariffs and service provision agreements of WSS providers

Promote transparency and accountability at all levels

Address existing inequalities in water and sanitation

Engage with the companies amd regulatory institutions to reduce costs/prices of water in peoples' settlements

Design an informed policy advocay package and strategy in water and sanitation

Engage policy makers to intergrate accountable service provision models for water and sanitation in peoples settlements

Develop effective and transparent standards for improved water and sanitation delivery
